Bio
Jeffery Oliver (b. 1970) is a contemporary fine art photographer, writer and multimedia poet who loves riding a bicycle.
He makes photographs that wrestle the paradoxes of and relationships among perception and attention, natural and human-influenced environments, the quotidian and wonder. Oliver shoots and prints utilizing both digital and traditional film and darkroom processes.
Oliver often discovers locations for landscape photographs while on long bicycle treks through remote spaces in the American west.
He earned an MFA in Creative Writing and Literary Arts with a focus on poetry from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2008 and received a BA in Music in 1995. His photographs, writing and poems have been published in books, magazines, journals and on websites across the country and internationally. His multimedia artworks have been presented and performed across the West Coast from Los Angeles to Alaska.
In his professional life, Oliver has worked in the performing arts in the San Fransisco Bay area, as a professional musician, an adjunct professor of poetry, a writer, photographer, web developer and as a professional web strategy and communications expert. He has also worked as a florist and dug graves one winter in Arkansas.
