PHOTOGRAPHS > GHOSTS OF FLOWERS
In “Ghosts of Flowers,” Oliver re-imagines the still life photograph using film photography techniques that play with light over time. In this series, Oliver under exposes the negative to subdue shadows which fall to black. He then develops the negatives for almost twice as long as the recommended time for the Ilford HP5+ film stock to burn in the highlights (white). This process creates high contrast and softens the definition of the highlights which leaves the eerie ghost-like effect in the printed photographs.
