Imaginary Landscapes
There are places I have only been in yearning. I wonder now—are these misremembered memories? Or something like nostalgia for the road I didn’t travel? Or maybe—regret that I was not who I wished I was while I was there?

Then later sitting in the nighttime dark under the dock lamp in the fog...

...for hours to have that one moment of clarity.

The lighthouse would shone the shoreline boulders in the shallows where fish once glistened.

Then early before the sun burned off the fog we'd wake for a walk to the point.

The sun would creep from over the eastern hills and we'd feel illuminated if only for a moment.

and later the hike the sun the sweat the lake.

...then out of the forest the rock the sea the day the sunset.

...to return and feel again the salt soft sound of the waves.
